The 27 countries that make up the European Union are slowly and surely using more business digital commerce, which includes ecommerce sites and apps, electronic data interchange (EDI) and e-procurement among other electronic sales channels. But usage differs widely by specific industries.
In 2019, 15% of companies conducted electronic sales using only websites or apps, while 3% used only EDI and another 3% used both. Those are two key takeaways from the 2020 survey of information and communications technology (ICT) usage and ecommerce in enterprises by the European Union. The annual survey includes a response from about 146,000 companies and organisations of varying sizes.
